Description
In this sharp and witty novel, a young Belgian woman navigates the bewildering hierarchy of a prestigious Japanese corporation. As she attempts to climb the corporate ladder, she finds herself increasingly entangled in the absurdities of office politics and the rigid social codes of her new environment. The narrative unfolds with Nothomb's signature blend of humor and keen observation, exploring themes of cultural misunderstanding, ambition, and the search for identity in a foreign land. It's a story that hilariously dissects the complexities of human interaction within the confines of a demanding workplace.
