Description

A young Indian boy named Pi Patel survives a shipwreck that leaves him adrift in the Pacific Ocean on a lifeboat. His only companion is an unlikely and dangerous one: a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Together, they face an epic journey of survival for 227 days, forging a unique bond against the vast, unforgiving sea. This novel masterfully explores themes of faith, resilience, and the blurred lines between reality and perception.

I went from holding the opinion that this book was 'ok' and nothing really very special at all.. to thinking it is such a wonderful piece of literature that, when given proper thought, questions a great deal. After reading Life of Pi I would recommend following it up with a discussion to develop the ideas raised within the book; at first glance it seems to be a somewhat pointless, fantastical story but when given time to digest, this book encourages some intense debates.
