Description

Still grieving her mother and recovering from cancer, ornithologist Joanna Teale retreats to rural Illinois to resume her research on nesting birds. Her solitary summer is upended when Ursa, a bruised and enigmatic child who claims to have come from the stars, appears at her cabin and asks to stay until she witnesses five miracles. With the help of her guarded neighbor, Gabriel Nash, Joanna tries to uncover the girl’s identity while an unexpected bond grows among them. Blending romance, mystery, and magical realism, the novel explores grief, healing, trust, and the extraordinary possibilities that emerge when wounded people choose to care for one another.
