Description
A murderer is revealed from the first page in this genre-bending novel that fuses Golden Age science fiction with Golden Age crime. As three meticulously staged killings unfold, the story becomes a sequence of HowDunnits—country-house intrigue and locked-room puzzles reframed through speculative ideas that reshape what “evidence” and “explanation” can mean. With sly humor and sharply controlled suspense, the book plays fair with the reader while steadily complicating their assumptions about crime, punishment, power, and freedom. Adam Roberts’s distinctive, high-concept style turns the act of detection into a kind of intellectual game, inviting you to follow the logic of the murders even as your sympathies begin to shift.
