Description

Set against the backdrop of late 19th-century Egypt and the burgeoning British occupation, this novel transports readers to the remote Siwa Oasis. A disillusioned Egyptian police officer, suspected of revolutionary sympathies, is exiled to the oasis with his Irish wife, an archaeologist obsessed with finding Alexander the Great's tomb. As they immerse themselves in the unique world of the oasis, they, along with its inhabitants, are compelled to confront their deepest selves amidst a landscape of ambition, betrayal, love, and heroism. The narrative masterfully weaves together past and present, history and reality, exploring the complexities of East-West relations on both human and civilizational levels.
