Description
After serving time in prison, bank robber Jack Foley forms an unlikely alliance with fellow inmate Cundo Rey, a powerful criminal whose generosity comes with complicated strings attached. When Foley is released, he enters Rey’s volatile world of luxury homes, criminal fortunes, and shifting loyalties, where Rey’s common-law wife, Dawn Navarro, draws him into a dangerous scheme. Set against the sun-soaked streets of Venice Beach, the novel explores friendship, betrayal, ambition, and the perilous boundary between truth and deception. With its sharp dialogue, dark humor, and morally elusive characters, it showcases the lean, stylish crime fiction that defines Elmore Leonard’s work.
