Description
In the tumultuous landscape of 1790 Virginia, a young Irish orphan named Lavinia arrives on a tobacco plantation, her past a blank slate. Thrown into the demanding world of the kitchen house, she forms an unbreakable bond with the enslaved people who become her family. Yet, Lavinia's life becomes increasingly complex as she is drawn into the orbit of the 'big house,' where the master's absence and the mistress's opium addiction cast long shadows. Navigating the treacherous divide between these two worlds, Lavinia finds herself caught between loyalties, on the precipice of uncovering dangerous truths that threaten to shatter lives.
