Description
In an alternate-history Cairo where the British have been overthrown and the supernatural is managed by the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities, a routine police investigation turns uncanny aboard a city tram. When Tram Car 015 begins to behave like a living mystery—hinting at forces that don’t belong in the everyday world—an investigator must follow clues through occult bureaucracy, street-level danger, and the uneasy coexistence of humans and otherworldly beings. Blending alternate-history atmosphere with science-fantasy wonder, the novella explores themes of institutional power, the ethics of containment, and how fear spreads when the rules of reality start to slip. With P. Djèlí Clark’s signature flair for lush worldbuilding and brisk, procedural momentum, the story delivers a haunting case file that feels both meticulously plotted and delightfully strange.
