Description
In this singular, exhilarating work, a gray little librarian with fallen arches becomes consumed by an obsessive quest to connect with the spirit of Herman Melville, finding echoes of the author's life in his own. This deep dive into interconnectedness, fueled by the conviction that "reality is no obstacle," expands to encompass a vast network of influences, from architect Lebbeus Woods to composer Bartok, all pointing toward a "Serene Paradise of Knowledge." As his fixation intensifies, leading to the loss of his job and marriage, he remains steadfast in his mission to reveal the "truth" of existence and protect a magnificent, imagined Palace of higher learning. This is a profound exploration of obsession, the nature of reality, and the relentless pursuit of a grand, unifying vision.
