Description

A mysterious, genderless android known only as the Visitor crash-lands on a remote world shaped into a self-contained medieval society, where the Reds and Blacks wage an apparently endless struggle for power. Taken in by the Endwives and later drawn into the service of one faction, the Visitor must learn the customs, language, and intricate loyalties of a world whose inhabitants seem trapped in roles performed countless times before. Inspired in part by the dynastic conflicts of the Wars of the Roses, the novel explores fate, identity, political ritual, and the tension between free will and repetition. Lyrical, mythic, and richly imagined, it blends science fiction with medieval romance and philosophical fantasy.
