Description
When a routine walk home turns into a desperate detour, two students—Tamaya Dhilwaddi and Marshall Walsh—find themselves lost in off-limits woods where danger isn’t just lurking in the shadows, but in what’s been left behind. Their attempt to survive quickly spirals into a mystery with far-reaching consequences, drawing in authorities and even reaching the halls of the U.S. Senate as the truth about the environment they’ve stumbled into comes to light. Blending suspense, school-day realism, and a sharp sense of wonder, the story explores how everyday choices can ripple outward—shaping communities, ecosystems, and the future itself. In Louis Sachar’s distinctive, fast-moving style, the adventure asks readers to consider responsibility, accountability, and the thin line between curiosity and catastrophe.
