Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng
Description
After witnessing her sister’s shocking death, Cora Zeng buries her grief in her work as a crime scene cleaner, scrubbing away the aftermath of violence across New York’s Chinatown. Yet her compulsive fear of contamination—and the disturbing pattern of bat carcasses and murdered East Asian women appearing at her jobs—makes it increasingly difficult to separate genuine danger from the horrors of her own mind. As the Hungry Ghost Festival approaches and the boundary between the living and the dead begins to fray, Cora must confront buried trauma, cultural memory, and a threat that refuses to stay cleanly in the past. A chilling psychological horror novel, it explores grief, obsession, racism, and the enduring power of family and folklore.
