Description

When a sudden storm of change sweeps through her life, a young girl finds herself struggling to make sense of what she feels and what others expect from her. As she navigates shifting friendships, family pressures, and the quiet ache of not being understood, she learns to speak up in the only way she can—through honesty, resilience, and the courage to ask for help. Blending heartfelt emotion with accessible, age-appropriate storytelling, this novel explores belonging, mental health, and the power of empathy in everyday relationships. With Lynda Mullaly Hunt’s signature warmth and clarity, the story offers both a mirror and a lifeline for readers who have ever felt like they were shouting into the rain.

Took a day over Thanksgiving break to work through Lynda’s third novel and was not disappointed. There will definitely be children that need to hear this story and will find hope and happiness through the pages I would guess. Delsie and Ronan are both strong antagonists who grow along the way with the help of “family” who surround them every step of the way. Highly recommend for grades 3 and up for read aloud and individual reading!
