Description

A Korean-American young woman’s life fractures when her father leaves, her family spirals, and a predatory new presence in the household turns everyday cruelty into something far more dangerous. As her world collapses, Ji-won begins to experience unsettling visions—bloody rooms of eyes that feel both irresistible and inevitable—while she navigates the pressures of two cultures, the sting of misogyny, and the ways stereotypes can be weaponized. In a feminist psychological horror that blends violent suspense with razor-sharp social critique, Ji-won’s unraveling becomes a study of rage, appetite, and the cost of being seen only as an object. With Monika Kim’s darkly inventive, propulsive style, this novel delivers a subversive, emotionally charged story about family, identity, and the terrifying transformation from hurt to hunger—without ever losing sight of what it means to reach for one another again.
