Description

When twelve-year-old Rosie's friendship with her lifelong best friend Bailey hits a rough patch, she finds herself caught between anger and confusion about what their bond really means. With the wisdom of her grandmother, Granny Torrelli, Rosie discovers that the most important relationships are worth fighting for—and worth understanding more deeply. Through Granny's stories and the simple act of making soup together, Rosie learns valuable lessons about love, forgiveness, and the true nature of friendship. Sharon Creech's heartwarming novel captures the complexity of growing up and the power of family to help us navigate our most precious relationships. A touching exploration of how the people closest to us can both hurt us and teach us the most.

Picked up off the shelf and saw the first few lines and it reminded me of myself in school.

Follow this short and quick read of Jack and his journey of discovering what he is actually capable of without realizing it. I feel like there are children in every classroom with untapped talents within themselves if only they had a little more push from a teacher like Miss Stretchberry!

As I said, very quick read, but there is so much inside this tale that could be used in classroom discussions centering around poetry, perseverance, love, admirations, etc.

Pleasant surprise when I finished this in a 30 minute sessions of reading!
