Description

Set in a small Southern town, this graphic novel follows three young people whose lives are shaped by friendship, family tensions, and a culture steeped in the imagery and ideology of war. As childhood games and everyday violence begin to echo the conflicts adults wage, the story examines how militarism infiltrates the imagination and identity of young Americans. Through fractured chronology, expressive artwork, and shifting perspectives, it explores memory, grief, complicity, and the difficult search for empathy. The result is a haunting, formally inventive meditation on youth, violence, and the enduring reach of empire.
