Description

A demon who has shaped a dazzling city for generations is left with only grief, memory, and a single book of names when angels arrive and the world she built is shattered. In the aftermath, an angel bound by her curse returns to haunt the ruins—until their hatred curdles into something stranger, a fascination that forces them to confront what was lost and what can be remade. As they unearth the city’s hidden history, they begin to reshape its future, even as war threatens to erase Azril forever. Blending lyrical fantasy with sharp emotional stakes, this standalone novel from Hugo Award–winning Nghi Vo explores love and obsession, the ethics of creation, and whether redemption can survive devastation—written with the inventive, world-bending sensibility readers associate with Calvino-like city-myths and Le Guin–style moral inquiry.
