Description
In this evocative debut novel, Manuel Puig transports readers to a stiflingly intimate Argentinian town in the 1930s and '40s, where secrets, gossip, and unspoken desires simmer beneath the surface. The narrative unfolds through the eyes of a young boy navigating the labyrinthine complexities of adolescence, his burgeoning awareness shaped by the allure of cinema and the hidden lives of the adults around him. Puig masterfully explores themes of identity, desire, and the often-painful transition into adulthood, all while weaving a poignant tapestry of provincial life and its enduring impact.
