Description

In a world where the night has its own rules and appetites, a young protagonist is drawn into a mysterious cycle of feasts that promises comfort—and demands a price. As strange guests arrive and old bargains resurface, the story blends eerie wonder with heartfelt character work, exploring what people will trade to feel safe, seen, or whole. With T. Kingfisher’s signature mix of sharp wit, atmospheric fantasy, and emotionally resonant stakes, the narrative moves between unsettling magic and moments of surprising tenderness. At its core, this is a tale about belonging, boundaries, and the courage it takes to choose your own hunger—before the dark chooses for you.

oouuuohhhhh what a delight to read a book drenched in timeless misery. the terrible weight of silence after the endless noise of war—a place where superstition and desperation collide. after having read book 1 with the wrong impression before i started it, i was much more prepared to enjoy this one AND the monster suits me better.
