Description

In the summer of 1987, a sixteen-year-old boy, recently orphaned and adrift, finds himself in the remote coastal village of Robin Hood's Bay. Seeking refuge and a sense of belonging, he takes a job as a cook at the Fyling Hall Hotel, a grand but decaying establishment overlooking the North Sea. There, he encounters a cast of eccentric characters, including the enigmatic and captivating Dulcie, a woman who lives by her own rules and offers him a glimpse into a life unbound by convention. As the seasons change and the boy navigates the complexities of newfound independence and burgeoning desire, he discovers the profound and transformative power of human connection and the enduring beauty of the natural world.
