Description
At a sleepover in a Texas border town, a group of teenage friends witness a terrifying transformation that may be linked to Tlazolteotl, the Aztec goddess of filth, sexuality, and purification. As fear and disbelief give way to supernatural danger, the girls must confront buried anxieties surrounding faith, desire, shame, and the expectations placed on young women. Blending visceral body horror with Mexican folklore and feminist themes, the novella explores cultural identity, friendship, and the complicated power of reclaiming what society calls impure. V. Castro’s atmospheric, provocative style makes this a sharply contemporary tale of possession, resistance, and feminine power.
