Description
When two horse transport drivers pick up a hitchhiker who soon turns up dead, retired jockey Freddie Croft discovers that his business may be entangled in a dangerous criminal conspiracy. As clues reveal the stranger’s hidden identity and suggest that Freddie’s horse boxes are carrying something far more illicit than racehorses, he is drawn into a perilous investigation spanning the racing world and the roads of Britain and Europe. Set against Dick Francis’s vividly authentic backdrop of professional racing, the novel explores loyalty, deception, moral courage, and the hidden dangers behind a seemingly respectable enterprise.
