Description
After achieving literary success, novelist Travis Glasgow moves with his wife into a picturesque Maryland home across from his estranged brother, hoping for a fresh start and a chance to repair old wounds. But the house’s idyllic setting soon gives way to unsettling noises, ghostly visions, and a baffling wooden staircase that rises from the lake behind the property. As Travis investigates the home’s tragic history, he discovers disturbing parallels between a former resident’s drowning and the death of his own younger brother—an event for which he has long carried the blame. Blending supernatural horror with mystery and psychological suspense, the novel explores guilt, grief, family estrangement, and the inescapable pull of the past.
