Description
In New Orleans, former hotel burglar Jack Delaney finds himself drawn into an audacious scheme involving a radical ex-nun, a fortune in stolen wealth, and a sadistic Nicaraguan colonel. What begins amid the grim business of a mortuary quickly becomes a dangerous con marked by shifting loyalties, dark humor, and escalating peril. Set against the political violence and moral ambiguities of the 1980s, the novel combines criminal ingenuity with sharp social observation. Its fast-paced plotting, vivid characters, and understated wit exemplify Elmore Leonard’s distinctive style.
