Description
Anya Ellahi, a Pakistani translator in London, yearns for literary acclaim but finds herself stuck subtitling films. Her world shifts when her boyfriend inexplicably masters Urdu overnight, revealing his secret: The Centre, an exclusive program promising total language fluency in just ten days. Driven by ambition and a gnawing sense of inadequacy, Anya enrolls, only to discover the sinister, hidden cost behind the institution's miraculous results. This darkly comic and surreal debut plunges into the complex politics of language, translation, and appropriation, questioning the true price of ambition and self-actualization.
