Description
In the vibrant, multicultural docks of 1950s Cardiff, a Somali sailor named Mahmood Mattan finds his life irrevocably altered when he is accused of a murder he did not commit. As suspicion mounts and the shadow of racism looms large, Mahmood must confront the injustices of a system that seems determined to condemn him. This powerful novel, inspired by a true story, delves into themes of identity, belonging, and the devastating consequences of prejudice. Nadifa Mohamed masterfully weaves a compelling narrative that brings to life a forgotten chapter of British history, exploring the complexities of life on the margins of society.
