Description
An ex-jockey agrees to purchase a modestly priced racehorse on commission, expecting a straightforward business arrangement. Instead, the horse attracts the attention of someone prepared to kill for possession of it, drawing him into a dangerous investigation that reaches from the stables to the highest levels of racing. Set against the tense, competitive world of British steeplechasing, the novel explores greed, deception, loyalty, and the perilous gap between sporting ambition and criminal obsession. It combines authentic racing detail with a tightly paced mystery and the understated suspense characteristic of its author’s work.
