Candy Monk, a restless teenager from the mundane world of Chickentown, USA, dreams of a life beyond her ordinary existence. Her wish is granted in the most extraordinary way when she is swept away to the Abarat, a fantastical archipelago where each island represents a different hour of the day. From the sun-drenched realms teeming with dragons to the chilling darkness ruled by the sinister Christopher Carrion, Candy discovers a world of breathtaking wonder and terrifying peril. Propelled into a destiny she never imagined, Candy finds herself the key to saving the Abarat from ancient, malevolent forces threatening to consume it whole.
