Description

In the small, suffocating town of Endora, Iowa, a young grocery clerk named Gilbert finds his life consumed by the needs of his unconventional family. His days are a cycle of caring for his morbidly obese mother, his developmentally disabled younger brother Arnie, and his troubled siblings, all while dreaming of escape. The arrival of a free-spirited young woman on a bicycle disrupts Gilbert's routine, offering him a glimpse of a life beyond his responsibilities and forcing him to confront his own desires and the complex dynamics of his family. This poignant novel explores themes of duty, love, and the struggle for self-discovery amidst the quiet desperation of small-town life.
