Description

In the aftermath of World War I, a wounded former soldier and his wife move to a remote Georgia town after inheriting a neglected farmhouse tied to his family’s troubled past. Across the river lie the ruins of a burned plantation—and a dark presence the townspeople have long contained through an unsettling monthly ritual. When that ritual is abandoned, a series of brutal incidents forces the couple to confront the community’s buried history and the horrors waiting beyond the river. Blending historical fiction with atmospheric supernatural horror, the novel explores guilt, repression, inherited violence, and the terrifying cost of disturbing the past.
