Description
In Italo Svevo's poignant novel, Emilio Brentani, a man adrift in his mid-thirties, grapples with the complexities of love, jealousy, and artistic ambition. Living with his sister and haunted by past literary failures, Emilio finds himself consumed by a passionate and tumultuous affair. As his obsession deepens, he begins to channel his tumultuous emotions into his writing, attempting to forge a new identity through his art. This introspective journey explores the agonizing self-analysis and existential anxieties that define the modern condition, rendered in Svevo's uniquely insightful and often darkly humorous style.
