Description
On Christmas Eve, young Marie receives a curious wooden nutcracker from her enigmatic godfather, Drosselmeier, and soon discovers that the toys in her home are caught in a terrifying war against a seven-headed Mouse King. As the boundaries between her ordinary family life and a magical realm begin to dissolve, Marie must draw on her courage, compassion, and imagination to protect the strange companion she has come to cherish. Blending Christmas wonder with eerie gothic fantasy, the story explores belief, loyalty, childhood perception, and the power of imagination to reveal truths adults cannot see. This richly atmospheric adaptation brings E.T.A. Hoffmann’s influential, darker fairy tale to life with an evocative visual sensibility.
