Description
When a lake begins to drain, long-buried secrets surface—along with a mystery that pulls Inspector Erlendur into a case of missing persons, hidden motives, and escalating violence. As he follows a cold trail that stretches from Reykjavík to Iceland’s wider shadows, he uncovers connections to international intrigue that complicate every step of the investigation. At the same time, Erlendur must navigate the emotional wreckage at home, caught between the struggles of his estranged, alcoholic son and the turmoil of his troubled daughter. With Indriðason’s signature slow-burn realism and psychologically sharp storytelling, this Reykjavík thriller explores grief, obsession, and the way shattered dreams echo long after the facts are found.
