Description

In a world where charm can be weaponized and appearances can conceal darker truths, a seemingly ordinary night at a glittering event turns into a test of identity, loyalty, and survival. As the “belle” of the ball draws attention from every direction, the story follows how performance, desire, and power collide—forcing characters to confront what they’ve been hiding and what they’re willing to become. With Stephen Graham Jones’s sharp, propulsive storytelling, the novel blends social tension with unsettling turns, exploring themes of spectacle, transformation, and the thin line between celebration and threat. Equal parts suspense and cultural critique, it’s a high-voltage read that lingers long after the music stops.
