Description
In the Amish community of Hickory Hollow, young Susie shoulders the care of her ailing mother, her adopted sister Britta, and a struggling family business while grieving the losses that have shaped her life. When her longtime friend Obie leaves to begin an apprenticeship, Susie must face an uncertain future and reconsider what his friendship—and possible love—means to her. Meanwhile, Britta’s questions about her birth mother threaten to unsettle the family’s carefully guarded past. With warmth and emotional insight, the story explores loyalty, sacrifice, family secrets, faith, and the difficult transition from childhood friendship to adult responsibility.
