Description
In this charming, storybook retelling, a young boy and his mother bake a gingerbread baby—only to watch it spring to life and tumble out of the oven. As the sweet runaway escapes, it sparks a playful chase that gathers a crowd and turns a simple kitchen moment into a lively adventure. With its rhythmic, humorous momentum and vivid, character-driven action, the story explores themes of imagination, mischief, and the surprising consequences of letting something “too clever” get away. Perfect for read-alouds, it pairs classic folk-tale energy with Jan Brett’s distinctive, engaging storytelling style and richly detailed visual storytelling.
