Description

In this intimate memoir, Cher opens the door to a life shaped by reinvention, risk, and resilience—from the early days of chasing a dream to the spotlight’s brightest, most demanding moments. With a clear-eyed voice and a storyteller’s instinct, she traces the relationships, creative choices, and defining turning points that helped her navigate fame, reinvention, and personal transformation. The book explores themes of identity, independence, and the cost of staying true to oneself in a world that constantly demands change. Equal parts candid and celebratory, it offers readers a front-row seat to the experiences that forged an enduring icon—told in Cher’s unmistakably bold, witty, and deeply human style.

if it wasn’t cher, this would have been a 2 star. but it’s cher. here’s things to know before going in:
- sonny is rotting in hell for this
- some memoirs you can read without being a fan of the person in question. this is not one of those memoirs.
- cher uses several racial slurs throughout the book
- cher is a gratuitous name dropper as she should be given the people she’s met, but god it got exhausting
- cher is detail oriented especially surrounding mundane daily life but most of all—the fashion.
- the book is in desperate need of an editor to clear up general typos, frequent timeline jumps, redundant introductions of the ensemble, and the occasional incorrect use of words
- the rumor is this was written by cher and several ghostwriters and not only does that feel true, i don’t think a single ghostwriter ever collaborated with any of their colleagues
