Description
In the stark hush of an Icelandic winter, a mysterious blue fox becomes the obsession of Baldur, a 19th-century priest whose authority reaches far beyond the pulpit. As he pursues the elusive creature, Baldur’s quest draws the rural community into a tense web of belief, power, and moral uncertainty—where devotion can blur into control. Blending mythic atmosphere with psychological intensity, the novel explores themes of fate versus freedom, the cost of obsession, and how charisma can shape a society’s conscience. With Sjón’s lyrical, haunting style and a talent for turning folklore into lived experience, this is a story of pursuit that ultimately asks what—and who—hunts us back.
