I went into this book with genuinely high hopes. The premise sounded so fun, a powerless witch from a powerful magical family, forced to team up with her hot, arrogant nemesis to break a curse? Add in family drama, evil forces bent on world domination, intense rivalry, emotional stakes. I was so ready for chaos, tension, and a big magical showdown. I walked in expecting something epic.

But somehow… it just never got there.

The back cover honestly had more energy than the actual story. There was so much potential for depth, high stakes, and a powerful climax, but everything felt surprisingly low-impact. The conflicts that were built up as massive and life-changing were wrapped up in just a few pages and way too easily. After all that promise of danger, struggle, and explosive moments, the ending felt rushed and kind of flat. Not just the ending, the whole book felt rushed and kind of flat.

Even the enemies-to-lovers dynamic, which should have been electric, didn’t hit as hard as I wanted it to. It felt like the author promised something huge but delivered it with a quiet shrug instead.

I’m giving it two stars because the idea itself is strong, and there were glimpses of what this story could have been. I really wanted to love it. But in the end, it felt like a lot of buildup without the payoff, and that was disappointing more than anything.
