Description
A quiet academic’s purchase of an old mezzotint soon reveals that the image is far more than a historical curiosity. As its details appear to shift in unsettling ways, the engraving draws its new owner into a mystery steeped in dread, isolation, and the uncanny. With restrained prose, atmospheric settings, and a masterful sense of gradual terror, this classic ghost story demonstrates why its author remains one of the defining figures of supernatural fiction.
