Description
Fourteen-year-old Sophie Amundsen's ordinary life is turned upside down when she receives two mysterious letters asking, "Who are you?" and "Where does the world come from?" This ignites a philosophical journey as she embarks on a correspondence course with an enigmatic philosopher, exploring the history of thought from ancient Greece to modern times. As Sophie delves deeper into these profound questions, she also becomes entangled in a perplexing mystery involving another girl named Hilde and the nature of her own reality. Jostein Gaarder masterfully weaves together accessible philosophical concepts with a compelling narrative, challenging readers to question their own existence and the world around them.
