Description
In the sunlit seaside town of Cornwall, a former painter and self-made outsider, Kit Griffith, tries to build a freer life—only to find that the past has a way of taking what it wants. When he meets Muriel Pendrake, a sharp-witted botanist with plans for New York, their uneasy partnership turns into a bicycle-fueled, low-stakes adventure that quickly becomes something far more dangerous to resist. Together they challenge rigid expectations—about art, about bodies, and about who gets to belong—while navigating the tender, complicated pull of queer love in a world determined to label it. With Joanna Lowell’s signature charm and buoyant Victorian wit, this romance blends seaside escapades, community, and self-invention into a story about choosing desire, risking change, and racing toward a future that may not be guaranteed.
