Description

In the rugged landscape of 1906 upstate New York, sixteen-year-old Mattie Gokey dreams of escaping her constrained life and becoming a writer, a path fiercely opposed by her father and fiancé. Seeking independence and the means to pursue her education, she accepts a position at the opulent Powell House inn. There, amidst the stark contrasts of wealth and poverty, Mattie uncovers a dark secret surrounding the death of a previous guest, forcing her to confront truths that challenge everything she believes about love, family, and her own future.
