Description
In the tranquil English village of Midwich, an inexplicable event descends, leaving every inhabitant unconscious for a single day. When the phenomenon vanishes, the villagers awaken unharmed, but a chilling discovery soon follows: every woman of childbearing age is pregnant. These are no ordinary children; they possess a collective intelligence and an unnerving psychic power that sets them apart from humanity, posing an existential threat to the world as we know it. John Wyndham masterfully explores themes of conformity, fear of the unknown, and the potential for humanity's own creation to become its undoing in this classic tale of alien impregnation and societal collapse.
