so here's the thing. if this was 100-150 pages shorter, more concise, and overall less repetitive it... could have slapped. as it is in that last 5 chapters i kept expecting it to end and it just wouldn't end. since i listened to the audiobook, i didn't have pages in my hands to dampen my hopes. and when it finally ended? well i silently cheered like my favorite sports guy scored a goal. also? eden and ruth were so flat and unbearable and having to hear about them at all crushed any whimsy or ambience that had been built up from margot's story.
