Why Did You Lie?

Description

When a journalist reopens an old case, the investigation pulls them toward a truth that refuses to stay buried—until guilt and fear culminate in a desperate act. Meanwhile, an ordinary couple returning from a house swap find their home ransacked and their lives thrown into disarray, as four strangers on a storm-battered rock become entangled in events that feel both random and inevitable. In parallel, Nina, a police officer struggling under pressure at work and at home, confronts the quiet damage that accumulates when people choose convenience over honesty. Across shifting perspectives, the novel probes how lies—small, strategic, or catastrophic—reshape relationships, justice, and identity, delivering a tense Nordic thriller with Yrsa Sigurðardóttir’s sharp psychological edge and relentless momentum.
