Description
Set against the backdrop of a sweltering summer on a volcanic island, this novel explores the intense and complex bond between two young girls on the cusp of adolescence. Their friendship, a potent mix of adoration and fierce possessiveness, simmers with unspoken desires and the dawning awareness of their own burgeoning sexuality. As the oppressive heat mirrors their inner turmoil, a devastating act of violence shatters their world, threatening to irrevocably alter their lives and their connection. Abreu's prose, often lyrical and raw, captures the volatile landscape of young love, loss, and the search for identity amidst the ruins of innocence.
