Description
A tough young drifter with a talent for trouble, Jack Ryan arrives in Michigan looking for work and finds himself caught between two possible futures. After taking a handyman’s job at a lakeside resort, he is drawn into the schemes of Nancy, a restless and manipulative woman who plots to steal a laborers’ payroll from her wealthy lover. As temptation, violence, and the prospect of an honest life collide, Ryan must decide whether to pursue one last reckless score or break free from his past. With lean plotting, sharp dialogue, and a wry, unsentimental eye for human behavior, this early crime novel captures the danger and allure of trying to make a “big bounce” into a better life.
