Perfect. A book that critiques form, academia, postmodernism, and flattery by enacting all four. Hard to parse. Sometimes from boredom, sometimes density, sometimes sophistry, sometimes existential dread. Every kind of difficulty is doing a job.The footnotes, the typography, the nested unreliable narrators, Removing any one of those is to the books detriment. It's a puzzle box that knows a puzzle box is a cheap trick.
