Akira

Katsuhiro Otomo

In the neon-drenched, post-apocalyptic metropolis of Neo-Tokyo, a city still reeling from the devastation of World War III, two young biker gang members find their lives irrevocably altered. Kaneda and Tetsuo navigate a world teetering on the brink of chaos, haunted by the legend of Akira, a power so immense it once leveled the city. When Tetsuo gains terrifying psychic abilities, he becomes a target for shadowy government forces and a catalyst for rebellion, forcing Kaneda to confront the escalating danger and the monstrous potential within his friend. This seminal work explores themes of power, corruption, and the destructive nature of unchecked ambition against a backdrop of breathtaking, dystopian spectacle.
